Hiii I'm the one behind the lens, the PHOTOJOURNALIST !

My name is Ruth Lesnykh!

I’m a photographer based in the Pacific North West / greater Seattle Area. I love to travel so living in Seattle won’t stop me from flying to you and capturing your special day WHEREVER you are ☺

Here’s A BUNCH of interesting facts about me ;

I got married at a young age (at 18 & a month later I turned 19) and it's the best decision I've ever made! I know you're probably thinking it's crazy to get married so young but I prayed 2.5 years for my now husband & I trusted God with his plans for me! I got the man of my dreams and prayers!! My husband Kirk & I have been happily married for 4 years now. Sooo you can say I know all the ins and outs of wedding planning and how stressful it could be sense I've been through it already!

I have a twin sister (we look nothing alike tho haha), I also grew up with all sisters (no brothers, just 5 sisters!) I’m allergic to eggs dairy and wheat (yes I know basically everything lol) so you can say I eat pretty healthy, my favorite color is green, I loveeee matcha (drink it on a daily), plants make me happy (I have way to many in my home hehe). I'm a foodie although I have to cook most of my meals at home since I have allergies and I have trust issues with restaurants messing up my food (I don't want to be throwing up all week). I love to go thrifting (love anything vintage), film photography is currently a hobby of mine, I love a good rom com movie (will probably cry), I'm a huge fan of 1950’s-1960’s music so you’ll be hearing a bunch of these songs during our photoshoot ;)

I love the outdoors / nature, friends is my all time favorite show, I am bilingual (I speak English and Russian). My husband calls me a home barista because I love making fun drinks from home & experimenting with flavors / different ingredients! Ru is my nickname that my husband, close friends & family call me! I’m a summer girl who thrives in warm weather (still don’t know why I live in rainy Seattle lol) and the ocean will forever have a special place in my heart!

The most important thing about me is that I am a christian so JESUS is in every part of my life!!! Without Jesus, I wouldn't be who I am today or even be alive. My name is actually a biblical name! My parents called me Ruth because of the book of the Bible Ruth and the character she had (go read it yourself to see!)

On my days off or in the evening's, you'll find me hanging out with my husband, catching up with my friends / family, exploring the outdoors, kayaking, or serving in my local church!

Now after reading all about me, I hope we have something in common and I don't feel like a complete stranger to you!

HOW & Why I became a PHOTOGRAPHer

Growing up, I was always creative with art so photography is a way for me to express my creativity by creating art with humans and nature!

When I was about 10-12 years old (don't remember exactly) I begged my parents to buy me a camera and so for my birthday, they bought me & my twin a small point and shoot digital camera to share and ever since then I fell in love with taking pictures and capturing memories!

For as long as I remember, I've always had an entrepreneur mindset and didn't enjoy working for others. So I started my own photography business in 2020 and instead of working a 9-5 I now work 24/7 ;) lol. My professional photography journey started 3 years ago and I am self taught. I've always enjoyed taking pictures of everything but I became passionate about becoming a wedding photographer / photojournalist for couples because when I was getting married my husband and I ended up cheaping out on a photographer & didn't have the best experience with them. I still regret thinking that my wedding pictures weren't going to be super important in the long run. I was wrong...

From the beginning (before booking my wedding photographer) I didn't love this photographers style, but since we had a small budget & didn't think investing into a photographer we actually wanted was important, we choose this particular photographer because of their cheap pricing. Once the pictures were delivered I hated them, cried and was upset we didn't go with the photographer we actually wanted because we decided to cheap out.

My advice to every future bride is to INVEST in a photographer YOU want!!! Please don't cheap out, you might (WILL) regret it later. Your wedding pictures will last forever and you want to love them and show them off to everyone, even display them in your home. If you don't love your pictures, you wouldn't want to do that. Your wedding is once in a lifetime. Invest into a photographer who will capture all of the emotions, details, and store memories in your photos. But most of all hire someone who will tell your love story while documenting your wedding / elopement !!

I wanted to become a photographer after my personal experience so I could give back and give people the amazing experience every person should have on their wedding day / elopement or even during their photoshoot! Every person should be in love with their pictures and look 5-10 years down the road and relive those special moments. That's my goal with photography, to tell your story and make sure you actually love your pictures!
